Get to Know the Savur Outdoors Pro Staff: Richy Laughery

Over the next little while, we at Savur Outdoors are going to be introducing you to some of our pro staff team members so you can see who is out there representing Savur Outdoors, maybe even in your neck of the woods. We figured what better way than with a fun little interview! This time we're interviewing Mr. Richy Laughery! Richy is a husband and father of one son who isn't far away from starting kindergarten. He is a semi-professional kayak angler, amateur mechanic, and founding member of the Mo-Yak Fishing Tournament Series. Richy is swimbait enthusiast and throwing those big baits has helped him land dozens of Missouri Master Angler Award citation fish including two largemouth bass over 9 pounds, a monster 50lb 4oz striped bass, and a 10lb 12oz walleye! In addition to Savur Outdoors, Richy works with KGB Swimbaits, Gator Guards, and Bait Wrx!

Savur Outdoors: How long have you been fishing?

Richy Laughery: For 32 years.

SO: What is your earliest fishing memory?

RL: Pond fishing in west-central Iowa.

SO: Who's your fishing hero?

RL: Too many to mention. More recent heros are Mike Iaconelli, my friends Brennan Banks and Mike Boyles.

SO: When was the last time you fun-fished, and what did you fish for?

RL: Been fun fishing all year, took a break from live tournaments for 2021, with the exception of the Big Bass Bash on Lake of the Ozarks in October.

SO: What's your home body of water?

RL: White River Chain of Lakes (Table Rock Lake, Bull Shoals Lake)

SO: What's your favorite Savur Outdoors product?

SO: Tell us your lost rod/bow/gear story.

RL: My one and only kayak flip in 2016. Recovered 2 rods (Savur equipped) and lost one other that wasn't equipped with a retrieval device retrofit. Went back a month later, and caught a 36lbs striped bass, with one of the recovered rods.

SO: What song do you typically listen to on the way to the water?

RL: Grunge, Metal, Hard Rock

SO: What do you do when you aren't fishing?

RL: I'm preparing for the next trip, or teaching/playing with my boy!

SO: Coffee or soda?

RL: Coffee in the morning, a soda with lunch or after a fishing trip.

SO: What's your favorite TV show of all time?

RL: In-fisherman TV

SO: What's food is your guilty pleasure?

RL: Raspberry Chocolate wafer cookies

SO: What is your hidden or surprising talent?

RL: Upside down push-ups

I'll be honest, I don't know what an upside down push-up is, but now I want to see it! Be sure to follow Savur Outdoors for more and to see who we interview next!
